| Experience | Tony is known as a mentor/coach who assists companies to achieve excellence through continuous improvement. His audience embark on a journey of discovery to uncover the most successful practices and the best ideas from the world's leading global players. |
Tony Barnes began his career as a member of the ‘Deming’ team in Japan during the most turbulent and formative years of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. He experienced at first hand the application of new holistic management practices that produced the Japanese post-war economic miracle. Tony came to understand that this remarkable achievement was made through an insistence on the highest standards of quality and customer service, a totally committed workforce and the practise of Kaizen, or continuous improvement.
Since then he has travelled the world learning from companies that are considered to be at the leading edge in their field. He started his own company The New Beginning Ltd to work with companies looking to radically improve their performance. He doesn’t like to be called a consultant, but rather a mentor or coach enabling companies to set up their own internal systems for continuous improvement.
Today he is also a much sought after International speaker. He is a regular guest of the TEC in the UDA where he speaks to groups of Chief Executives on leadership, change management and continuous improvement. He runs the Dynamic Leadership course at the Institute of Directors in London and is retained as an advisor be several leading companies in the UK and USA.
Tony’s presentations are not just for management however; he has the ability to motivate and enthuse whole workforces or groups of employees. And because his philosophies match the mission of the UK’s Investor in People programme, he is often asked to address IIP conferences or to work with companies about to embark on the programme.
He has given keynote speeches at the Ideas UK annual conference, at the ICCA annual conferences in Tokyo and Lisbon, at SITE in Brussells and in-house to Hydro Aluminim, Taywood Homes, the Bank of England Printing Works amd BT. In addition he is aregular speaker at Business Link events for SMEs
