John competes in international marathons and triathons, including the Volcano Olympic Distance Triathlon in Lanzarotte (2002), London Marathon (2001, 1999) and the Manhattan Island Solo Swim in the US (1999). |
John's winning spirit has enabled him to succeed in business as he has in sport. He has:
- achieved a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) from Kingston University Business School
- Qualified in landscape design and build at Merrist Wood Agricultural College
- written a regular column for a property magazine
- worked as director of landscape maintenance and personnel for Scotscape Landscaping
- developed and managed a team of 50 personnel
- landed significant contracts with clients such as the BBC, Planet 24 and The Swaminarayan Hindu Temple in London
John has been invited to lecture to the "Top Gun" Cadets at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado USA and to the Masters students studying for their MA in Human Resource Management at Kingston University Business School. His presentation to the Cadets focused on project management and motivation using John's solo swim of the English Channel as the case study, while at Kingston John gave a two part lecture on the development of managers using emotional intelligence.
